BAICR Sistema Cultura was founded in 1991 as a non-profit consortium of five Italian cultural
institutions with the aim of contributing to the valorisation of the country’s historical and
cultural heritage through the use of innovative methodologies, communicative approaches and the creation of digital environments.
Research and study for all sources of historical memory, however different in terms of origin,

Archivi del Novecento
The aim of the project, which involves 76 Cultural Institutions, is to create a network of important privately-owned archives to reconstruct social and cultural aspects of the Twentieth Century. For this purpose was developed a software, GEA, for the management and consultation of historical archives. It’s been used by some important Italian companies to promote their documentary heritage (Autostrade per l’Italia, Olivetti, Banca Intesa...
The consortium promotes life-long learning, and research on didactic methods and instruments, especially e-learning, through master’s degrees and short courses. BAICR Sistema Cultura is an educational agency accredited by the Ministry of Education (Decree 18/05/2001) which organises postgraduate courses and distance master’s degrees aimed mainly at cultural institutions, public administration offices and schools, in conjunction with the Tor Vergata University of Rome or in partnership with other institutions.
BAICR and the other member Institutes have a long tradition of European partnerships. Their educational offer has always focussed on European themes and the collaboration with foreign researches.
Their long-standing sense of belonging to the E.U. emerges in the research studies, conferences and publications (see the presentations of the single member institutes) as well as the international dimension of the Institutes’ Presidents, Directors and experts.
